Covid-19 (Mauritius) – Highlights of cabinet meeting

The Mauritian ministerial cabinet has during their weekly meeting held on the 17th September 2021 announced that the Minister of Health and Wellness would promulgate the COVID-19 (Self-Confinement) (Amendment) Regulations 2021, so that henceforth a person who is tested positive to COVID-19 may be ordered by the Quarantine Officer to be self-confined at his residence, subject to certain specific conditions.

In addition, the Finance Minister Mr. Renganaden Padayachy announced yesterday during a press conference that the Wage Assistance Scheme and the Self-Employed Assistance Scheme will be extended until December 2021 in order to support economic activity and the tourism industry.

Clarifications are also (eagerly) awaited with respect to the consequences of self-confinement relating to labour relationships.
